Docks

With 410 feet of shoreline, the waterfront is the beating heart of The Cedars. Four cedar docks offer different ways to interact with the water.

The Main Dock faces the sunset and is the gathering place for afternoon water games and cold drinks. Drilled holes can hold a selection of umbrellas to offer protection from the sun. The muskoka chairs are big enough to be comfy, and heavy enough to remain put during storms.

The Swim Raft floats just far enough from the shore to be the jumping off point for many adventures, and close enough to provide a defined swim space for younger swimmers.

The Long Dock extends from the Boat House out towards the middle of the lake. It is built upon two cairns of stones and is supported by adjustable galvanized posts to respond to winter heaving. While designed to be the home of the Blue Angel, it is best known for offering a dramatic launch pad for cannon balls.

The East Dock is tucked beside the Boathouse and offers quieter contemplation of the shoreline and wildlife.

The sandy Boat Launch doubles as a wading area for little ones.

Much of the shoreline has been left as natural habitat and wetlands to encourage local wildlife (but discourage Canadian geese). We often see otters, minks, beavers, painted turtles, loons, herons and other wildlife in and around our docks.
